Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow Campaign

“With Pre-Spring, I was thinking about watching old Westerns on TV growing up in Denmark. This was the 80s, when there was literally just one TV channel, and on Sunday afternoons they’d always show a cowboy movie. There was nothing else to do, you were trapped watch- ing this film. I wanted a little of Julie Christie in Robert Altman’s McCabe & Mrs Miller too. I love that movie and the idea of all those ruffles and Seventies slouchiness. We shot the collection on Emma Rosenzweig. I’ve known Emma for the longest time. The first time I saw her years ago in the street I was like: ‘Who is that girl?’

She is such a Copenhagen girl, true to herself. Her style is all her own and more than anything she is such a talented filmmaker. There’s no one I’d rather be dancing with in the kitchen late on a Saturday night. Bringing her into the collection made so much sense to me.“

— Ditte Reffstrup, Creative Director, GANNI

The GANNI Pre-Spring 2019 campaign features Emma Rosenzweig, director, actor, model and #gannigirl, at home in Copenhagen, photographed by Ana Kraš. The collection is a fresh take on Americana, filtered through creative director Ditte unique aesthetic. The Wild West creeps into a white leather biker jacket with a rodeo fringe. Wild horses roam across a blouse with a high frilled neck. There is a little of the American prairie too in a blue-and-white checked top. The Western shirt gets an update in pink corduroy with a ruffle. Ditte’s love of contrast emerges in a cowboy inspired shirt rich with decoration, wild horses on the sleeves and leopard print on the pockets. Flowing ankle-length dresses have a hippy-ish vibe, while thigh-high white leather boots add a hard edge. Elsewhere, an oversized fluffy sweater in brown is embroidered with spangly pearls – inspired by decoration on the handles of vintage pistols.
