Love Society

GANNI Love Society collection

”All of my collections are personal, but this one is especially important to me. I started designing it half a year ago, during a research trip to New York. There was so much going on then, politically and personally. The world felt — and still feels — like a very dark place. The collection is called Love Society, and it’s my form of a contribution. I’m committed to the ideal of a loving, mindful society that encourages dialogue and urges us all to come together and look after each other. With love, there is hope.”

– Ditte Reffstrup, Creative Director, Ganni

Ganni’s Fall/Winter 2017 collection is a message of love and a reflection of the many conversations Creative Director Ditte Reffstrup has had over the last year. Climate change, conflict, and politics dominated those exchanges. The mood of the collection is rooted in the real world and the colour scheme mirrors this, with earthy browns and greens, lilac, navy, black and deep orange signalling a sober take on the season. Yet love suffuses the entire collection and there are hearts on bags, dresses, sweaters and T-shirts. A beautiful black dress features hand-drawn, sequinned hearts growing like flowers from a vine, while a heart containing the words “Love Society” is embroidered on a sweater. There are further sweet accents: a pair of denim dungarees decorated with bows, sneakers with lace edges, delicate florals, polka dots. America continues to dominate the news, but the references in this collection celebrate its pop cultural landscape, from high-necked dresses reminiscent of Little House on the Prairie, to hot-dog and lollipop motifs.

For Fall/Winter 2017, Ditte has introduced a series of new, high-quality fabrics, including sumptuous tailored wool, fine silk organza, and heavy satin for a luxurious, exclusive feel. Different fabrics are layered for rich, elegant looks. This is a collection that is made to last, built on the belief that we can make and do things better. Love Society is a symbol of Ditte’s desire to stand together in the turmoil, and comes straight from the heart.
