Iconic Ballerina Flats

Rooted in Copenhagen, GANNI takes the classics and gives them a twist, and the ballerina is where that shows up best: a familiar shape with something slightly off, a buckle where you didn’t expect one, a lace that climbs the ankle, a sole with a bit of sport to it. Discover the edit across three icons: the vintage-inspired Lace-Up Ballerinas tie up the leg in leopard printed denim, ivory and dark-olive; the studded Jenny Ballerina brings the hardware; and the graphic Sporty Ballerina adds a chunkier sole. Add the Buckle Strap Ballerinas for the GANNI signature fastening. Our materials are thoughtfully selected, including preferred and innovative alternatives where we can use them: the Lace-Up Ballerina comes in Oleatex, a leather alternative made from the pulp left after olives are pressed for oil. The exact material is listed in the details section of each product page, with more on how we choose our materials in our Responsibility Report.

FAQ

Yes, and they keep evolving. Our edit shows where they’re at now: the Lace-Up Ballerinas that tie up the ankle, the studded Jenny Ballerina, and the Sporty Ballerina with its chunkier graphic sole. Leopard print, buckles and laces all sit in the mix.

Detail-led ones. Our Lace-Up Ballerinas come in leopard printed denim, ivory and dark-olive; the Jenny Ballerina brings the studs; the Buckle Strap and Feminine Buckle Ballerinas carry the GANNI fastening. Choose from print, hardware or a lace-up.

Wrap the laces up the ankle and tie at the front or side, snug but not tight, with the bow where you like it. Tuck the ends in or let them trail.

Our Ballerinas are ballet flats: the round-toe, low-cut shape borrowed from ballet slippers. Flats is the wider family, which also covers loafers, mules and other Flat Shoes & Sandals.

There are no rules. Cropped or wide jeans, a slip or mini dress, tailored trousers with a visible ankle. Try our Lace-Up Ballerinas in Leopard Printed Denim with a graphic tee and jeans for a Copenhagen-inspired look.

That’s personal, so here’s the construction: the Sporty Ballerina has the chunkiest sole in the edit, while the Jenny Ballerina and Lace-Up Ballerinas keep the low, flexible ballet base. Fit notes are listed on each product page.

Snug rather than loose is the general rule for a flat: it should stay on without pinching, with room at the toe. Sizing and fit notes for each of our Ballerinas are on its product page.

There are no rules. Bare, a sheer sock, a ribbed one or a chunky sports sock all work. Our Sporty Ballerina and its graphic sole take a visible sock happily.

The Lace-Up Ballerinas come in nylon and leather alternatives, including Oleatex, a next-gen material made from the pulp left after olives are pressed for oil, alongside leopard printed denim. The exact material is listed in the details section of each product page, with more on how we choose our materials in our Responsibility Report.

The Jenny Ballerina is the studded one, the Sporty Ballerina has the chunkier graphic sole, and the Lace-Up Ballerinas tie up the ankle. The Buckle Strap Ballerinas add our signature fastening.
